Febapple Frozen 20Miler Race

This image pretty much captured the condition of the entire trail.

This one of those races where you wanted to turn back around, go home and crawl back under your comforter. Steady icy rain also made layering difficult. But, as always, we were excited to run a different trail and this one did not fail expectations. Decent gains on both loops with ice packed trails and muddy/snow packed hills. It has been raining and snowing all week so the track was incredibly slick and there were areas that could've been mistaken for an ice rink.

2012 Summer-Fall : One To Remember (Part 2)

New York City Urbanathlon(Citifield)

The race that came to our backyards and we took the challenge. A 10-mile race featuring obstacles such as tire runs, wall climbs, jumping over NYC taxis and buses, and rope crawls. As a bonus, we got to run around Citifield's stadium and across the outfield. That's a lot more running in the stadium than Mets player did last year.

A transformation for Zee and his first endurance obstacle race.

View from the stadium.

She is not getting a protein powder sponsorship anytime soon.

Our first time completing a race within mins of each other. It will be a competition next year....it only makes us better.

2012 Summer-Fall : One To Remember (Part 1)

Super Spartan - Mountain Creek

Our first big endurance event of the summer. One that started out with a mile long accent to the top of the ski slopes at mountain creek. None of us were prepared for what was to come, and some of us felt the pain in that first mile. After the first two obstacles, our friend Nick would suffer from cramps in the calves but he would overcome up it with much help from the girls and self perseverance. It was great to watch him ignore the pain and able to complete the course.

Being virgins at this type of event/race-course we were overwhelmed at some points, but everyone helped in motivating each other and we finished with all of our limbs and sanity intact. Danny and Gib were prepared and finished the course in manageable time, and even provided tips to roll across the rocks below the barbwire trap. :)

Awesome Group Shot! Feeling accomplished!

Pulling this big fish out of the water after the swim across the lake.

Yeah, the girls pretty much kicked the tires to submission.

Rockefeller State Park Run & After

After a few bridges and getting lost in Subaruville (Pleasantville, NY) we finally arrived at our destination- the starting point/parking lot ($6 fee) of the Rockerfeller State Park running trail. Our warm-up was a lap around the pond which was about a mile or so.

The rest of the trail, which was the prominent feature of it, was the miles of carriage dirt/stone trail. A few hills tucked in besides its path within some private property but which you're still allowed to run. Picture to the right is an unbeaten path which attaches part of the trail section, but it's nothing more than pieces of open land. We tried to find some technical trails, but unfortunately this park doesn't offer that kind of terrain.

Spectacular views from the Landmark sitting on top of a hill that drops into the Hudson.

The Afterward-

Always a nice addition to the after run refuel- our go to craft beer selection at the moment- The Nugget Nectar. With that kind of name, you're expecting a happy ending, and it delivers just that.

Looking a bit dazed and confused.
